Building a Foundation for Shared Governance
Program Governance (Basic II)
 
Abstract

A presentation to introduce the framework of how program services support the implementation of program governance. Management staff, governing board members, and others who have interactions with these groups will find this information useful. The presentation will explore the roles and functions of the board, PC and staff; explore how shared governance is integrated into systems and supports the implementation of services; and identify key factors for a formal structure of shared governance.

Gwen ShavalierGwen Shavalier

Gwen Shavalier works with the Technical Assistance Network for Region V, providing training and technical assistance support to Head Start programs in Michigan. Prior to joining the Technical Assistance Network, she served as a PRISM (Program Review Instrument for Systems Monitoring) reviewer for eight years, addressing the areas of program design and management, and family and community partnerships. Ms. Shavalier began her 19-year career with Head Start as a Social Services, Parent Involvement and Health Coordinator and continued as a Head Start Director for seven years.
