The National Head Start Fellowships Program was established by Congress through reauthorization of the Head Start Act in 1996. National Head Start Fellows are selected from the Head Start community throughout the nation. The Fellows are energetic professionals who support the Office of Head Start in such areas as program development, research, quality assurance, child development, health, governance, collaboration, and policy.
These Head Start professionals gain Federal experience first-hand from nationally recognized leaders. Just as important, the Fellows contribute their energies and perspectives to the discussion of significant issues affecting children and families. Candidates are sought who demonstrate experience with Head Start, substantial content area expertise,
and high levels of personal and professional achievement.
