Center on Personnel Studies in Special Education
The COPSSE website has a large selection of research and presentations about workforce issues in the special education field. This is a great start for those looking for more information about certification and licensure.

Council for Exceptional Children
The CEC is a membership organization for educators of special and gifted children. Learn about their web seminars, regional workshops, and customized training in their professional development section. The site also includes a resource list specifically for early childhood educators.

The Division for Early Childhood
The DEC is a division of the Council for Exceptional Children focused on the needs of early childhood educators. Important resources they offer include a 7 chapter Better Practices workbook, guide and toolkit and conferences and workshops held across the country.

Learning Disabilities Association of America 
LDA is a membership organization for people interested in and/or affected by learning disabilities. The "For Teachers" section of the site offers information to help teachers and staff identify and accommodate various learning disabilities in the classroom. There are also webinars, annual conferences, and events hosted by state chapters.

National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities
The NACDD site provides information about how to get involved in your state’s Developmental Disabilities council which is a great way to advocate for services and greater awareness in your state while also networking with other people facing similar challenges.

National Association of Special Education Teachers
NASET is a membership organization for special education teachers. The "Resource" section of the website offers audio lectures and PowerPoints, information on conferences and workshops, useful forms, and a teacher-to-teacher forum.

National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities
This site provides information about disabilities in children ages zero to three. The site goes through the entire early intervention process of identifying disorders, learning what services are available, and planning the preschool transition. There is also a database, searchable by state, of both government and nonprofit agencies that provide disability services.

Early Childhood Development

The McCormick Tribune Center for Early Childhood Leadership
The McCormick Tribune Center for Early Childhood Leadership is dedicated to enhancing the management skills, professional orientation, and leadership capacity of early childhood administrators. The center offers research studies, newsletters, and training workshops (primarily located in the Chicago area).

Council for Professional Recognition
The Council for Professional Recognition administers the Child Development Associate Credential. Other professional improvement activities of the Council include: publishing materials to support professional development activities, including the CDA preparation process; administering a Military School-Age Credential and; operating a CDA Professional Preparation Program. The web site provides some CDA preparation materials online as well as great lists of early childhood links.

National Association for the Education of Young Children
NAEYC is an association dedicated to improving the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. The NAEYC offers accreditation to both programs for young children and Associate, Bachelor and Graduate degree programs in early childhood education. Each year they host the largest conference on early childhood education in the world. Additionally the NAEYC website has many useful online resources in their "Information for Teachers" section.

Facilities Maintenance and Operations Committee of the National Institute of Building Sciences
The Facilities Maintenance and Operations Committee is a membership committee which focuses on improving the longevity of buildings through proper maintenance. Helpful resources on the site include service contract guides located on their publications section, as well a list of useful links.

International Facilities Management Association
The IFMA is a global membership organization which offers two credentials for building managers with both traditional and online courses available. It also hosts conferences, symposiums and an online journal.

National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities
The National Clearinghouse for Education Facilities compiles a huge amount of information relating to facility management. Particularly useful is the 400 point school safety checklist found on the Safe Schools page, along with other helpful articles. Valuable information can also be found on the resource list page.

Planning Guide for Maintaining School Facilities
This is a comprehensive, eight chapter guide to school maintenance provided by the National Center for Education Statistics.

ABC’s for Exempt Organizations from the IRS
The IRS's Compliance Guide for 501(c)(3) Public Charities  brochure, on-line workshops, and mini-courses are user-friendly introductions to the complexities of nonprofit status.

Association of Fundraising Professionals
The Association of Fundraising Professionals is a membership organization for fundraisers. In the "Education and Career Development" section and the "Resource Center" section, you will find informative articles for all fundraising-skill levels.

Basic Guide to Non-Profit Financial Management
The Free Management Library provides various articles on non-profit finances. Find advice on topics such as balancing budgets, choosing accounting software, and preparing for audits.

The Foundation Center
The Foundation Center is a subscription site which helps nonprofit professionals research grant-giving foundations. The "Gain Knowledge" section has a large selection of recent studies on trends in fundraising, along with free online training courses and webinars which walk you through the fundraising process.

Non-Profit Guides
Non-Profit guides provides free outlines and sample grant proposals. The sample "public request for proposal" and the "public proposal" are great templates for first time grant writers.

For Parents

ASPIRA’s Parents for Education Excellence Workshop and Facilitator’s Guide
Two ten lesson guides (one for parents, one for the facilitator) in both English and Spanish help parents join the school community. Lessons on self esteem, communication and parent involvement are also included. 

Designing Parenting Education
A three-module training guide designed to help educators create helpful programs for parents. The guide includes a section on how to help parents further their professional development.

American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
The AACAP is a membership organization for child and adolescent psychiatrists. The "Physician and Allied Professionals" section discusses workforce issues and practice information for psychiatrists. There are also interviews with experts in the field and a resource center designed for early career psychiatrists.

American Academy of Pediatrics
The AAP is a membership organization for pediatricians. The "Professional Education and Resources" section provides information on becoming a pediatrician, or improving an existing practice. The "Health Topics" and "Parenting Corner" sections provide useful information about childhood diseases.

American Public Health Association
The APHA is a global membership organization for public health professionals. The web site includes a large career center and a wealth of public health information for its members.

Bilingual and Low-Literacy Health Resources
This resource the American Academy of Family Physicians provides links to easy-to-read toolkits and pamphlets in both English and Spanish to aid health education.

National Rural Health Association
The NRHA host several conferences and workshops across the country. They also publish annual research on pressing issues facing rural health workers. Your state’s RHA may host events nearby.

Society of Pediatric Nurses
The Society of Pediatric Nurses is a membership organization. Members may get information on the nurse certification process.

The Society for Public Health Education
SOPHE is an international association of health education professionals and students. Find on their "Self Study" page full presentations, audio, and PowerPoint slides on various health topics.

ITAA is a membership organization for all IT professionals. Find general information about IT issues such as network security and intellectual property.

State Educational Technology Directors Association
SETDA is a membership organization for educational technology directors. The "Tools, Reports and Research" section provides useful information on maximizing the effects of technology in classroom and administration settings.

TechSoup
Tech Soup, “The Technology Place for Nonprofits,” offers articles, worksheets, and product comparisons in their learning center. These materials are designed to help those at any level of technical experience.

Center for Nonprofit Management
The "Resources and Tools" section of the Center for Nonprofit Management web site provides an organizational self assessment and helpful articles on pressing management issues such as training new board members.

Introduction to Management
The Free Management Library provides links to articles discussing the practical and theoretical concepts of management.

The Free Nonprofit Micro-eMBA(SM)
While The Free Management Library does not grant degrees, it does aim to compile all the information usually learned in a business school into this online program. This information is divided into twelve modules which can be completed in any order, and at your own pace.

The National Council of Nonprofits
The National Council of Nonprofits is a network of state associations that serve small and midsize nonprofits. Their "Nonprofit Congress Initiative" page provides valuable information on growing public awareness on developing leadership and capacity building for organizations. The "Resources" section houses a large selection of helpful links.

Theories of Management
Idealist.com provides a quick overview of nonprofit management. At the bottom of the page you will find a resource list with links to a tool box, consultant lists, and FAQs on a variety of topics.

Achieving An Effective Food Service System
This site contains a series of modules with advice on hiring, training, and managing a food service staff. The modules contain handouts, videos and PowerPoints.

National Coalition for Food-Safe Schools
National Coalition for Food-Safe Schools has a large database of videos and handouts to use when training new food staff. It also has resources for nurses, educators, and administrators.

National Food Service Management Institute
The National Food Service Management Institute is a clearinghouse for documents, newsletters, videos, web seminars and other training opportunities for food service workers and managers.

School Nutrition Association
The SNA is a membership organization for school nutrition professionals. Go to the "Career and Education" page for information on SNA’s online classes and certification program.

Oral Health

American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
The AAPD is membership organization for dentists who undergo additional training to work with infants, children, and adolescents. AAPD provides information on the Head Start Dental Home Initiative. Additionally the "Dental Health Resources" section includes helpful links to many sites about oral health.

Dental Team Careers
The American Dental Association is the professional association for all American dentists. Their web site includes many materials, including streaming videos, for those considering a career as a dentist, dental assistant, dental hygienist, or lab technician. It also has lesson plans for teaching children about oral health and Spanish language videos and translation tools.

What is a Dental Hygienist?
The ADHA is membership organization for dental hygienists. Non-members may use the site to learn how to become a dental hygienist or re-enter the field. There is also a frequently updated Professional Issues section and Oral Health information in both English and Spanish.

Cavity Free Kids
Cavity Free Kids provides materials and instruct staff on oral health education for low income/low literacy children and pregnant women. The service is free in Washington State, and programs in other states are charged for travel and material expenses.

Alliance for Nonprofit Management
Alliance is a membership organization for nonprofit managers. The organization hosts networking events, an annual conference, a cultural competency institute and day long training events across the country.

American Society for Training and Development
ASTD is the world’s largest association dedicated to workplace learning and performance professionals. They offer a credential called a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance Certification (CPLP). ASTD also offers a comprehensive online Career Center with personalized advice on how to advance careers in management or training.

Board Source
Board Source is a resource which provides information for organizations looking to start or recruit members for a board and for board members themselves.  There are free articles on a wide range of issues facing board members and the organizations they serve.

Leader to Leader Institute
The Leader to Leader Institute is a membership organization for leaders in the social sector. The "Tools " section is a free, indepth guide to colloborating with other organizations.

Free Complete Toolkit for Boards
The Free Management Library provides articles about recruiting and developing your board. The sections on how to staff a board and how to ensure a successful meeting are particularly helpful.

Society for Organizational Learning
SOL is a global network of learning communities that aim to research and implement better organizational development practices. They provide online resources, seminars, consulting, and leadership development programs across the country.

Resources for Retention
Volunteering in America provides articles, tip sheets, and worksheets explaining how to recruit, organize, and retain volunteers. There are also numerous links to other online resources.

Social Work

American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
AAMFT is a membership organization for marriage and family therapists. The web site includes journal articles, career and practice information, and searchable databases of accredited schools and licensed therapists.

Council on Social Work Education
The CSWE web site is a great place to search for an accredited social work program.

National Association of Social Workers
The NASW is the largest association for professional social workers. Members have access to credentialing, professional development programs, and up-to-date information about advances in their field.

National Board for Certified Counselors
The NBCC web site provides information on continuing education, licensure and credentialing, and information on counseling ethics. The NBCC also awards a national credential for counselors.

School Social Work Association of America
The SSWA is the only association to focus on social workers who work in schools. Check out their events calendar and their series on school social work ethics.

Transportation

Community Transportation Association
CTAA is an association for any type of transportation which serves communities. They providerelevant professional development workshops. Additionally, they have valuable information and links on tribal and rural transportation services.

National Association for Pupil Transportation
NAPT is a membership association designed to support school transportation workers. It offers professional development courses and a certification program. NAPT also hosts an annual conference and tradeshow; be sure to check for events held by your state’s Association for Pupil Transportation.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
The NHTSA offers resources and information on road safety, product recalls, and new traffic laws and regulations.

National School Transportation Association
The National School Transportation Association is a membership organization promoting the interests of private school transportation companies and workers. It provides useful information on school bus safety through guides and workshops held throughout the country.

Rural Transportation
This organization offers newsletters, a resource library, audio and video conferences, and online presentations that address the needs of rural transport workers.
