Head Start and Early Head Start programs are successful when services are carefully planned and supported. Implementation and Professional Development Planner

Thoughtfully planned systems to support all program services are the foundations to a successful quality Head Start and Early Head Start program. During the 2005 Head Start and Early Head Start Directors’ Institute, participants examined elements of their own program and assessed challenges in the key areas of Financial Management, Governance, and Management Systems.  The workshops and synthesis groups were designed to help participants discover and strengthen program systems and services while reinforcing the knowledge, skills, and competencies that are critical for their own success as a Head Start leader.

The Implementation and Professional Development Planner was a resource for participants to use during the Institute. The Planner is organized as a framework to enhance and focus learning during the Institute and to guide decision-making that will result in program improvement and ongoing professional development.

The Planner is linked to the Head Start Program Performance Standards, as well as to management responsibilities and leadership roles. It helps focus attention on ways to improve an agency’s current management systems to support effective program services. The focus at the 2005 Directors’ Institute was on financial management, program governance, and management systems. More>> [PDF, 3,116KB]
