The Financial Capability Review determines whether the grantee's finances are adequate to carry out the tasks defined in the grant. The grantor typically obtains the type and depth of financial and other information that is required to establish grantee's financial capability or condition. Financial reporting requirements differ among the agencies and by individual grant, but each grant is subject to a Financial Capability Review on at least an annual basis. Standard Form 269 (SF-269) is required.

Reviews can be conducted prior to grant award, or during the execution of the grant at least once per year. A review typically includes an examination of:

Financial statements, including those contained in reports issued to stockholders, lending institutions and SEC filings Cash flow forecasts Loan agreements and evidence showing compliance with these agreements Aging of accounts receivable and payable and financial history of the grantee and affiliated concerns.
