45 CFR 1309.54 Davis-Bacon Act


This regulation deals with the Davis-Bacon Act regarding construction and renovation projects and subcontracts. Grantees will benefit form reading this regulation when hiring construction workers. All projects and subcontracts financed with funds awarded under the Head Start program are subject to the Act.

Sec. 1309.54 Davis-Bacon Act [Code of Federal Regulations][Title 45, Volume 4] [Revised as of October 1, 2006] [Page 197] TITLE 45--PUBLIC WELFARE CHAPTER XIII--OFFICE OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES PART 1309_HEAD START FACILITIES PURCHASE, MAJOR RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION Subpart F_Construction and Major Renovation Sec. 1309.54 Davis-Bacon Act. Construction and renovation projects and subcontracts financed with funds awarded under the Head Start program are subject to the Davis- Bacon Act (40 U.S.C. 276a et seq.) and the Regulations of the Department of Labor, 29 CFR part 5. The grantee must provide an assurance that all laborers and mechanics employed by contractors or subcontractors in the construction or renovation of affected Head Start facilities shall be paid wages at not less than those prevailing on similar construction in the locality, as determined by the Secretary of Labor.
