As stated in the program announcement, $14,000,000 is being made available to initiate or expand full-day comprehensive early childhood services in or near public and Indian housing developments. Eligible applicants are Head Start grantees, nonprofit child care providers, RMCs and RCs. Each applicant may apply for a maximum of $400,000 for a 17-month grant period. It should be noted that successful applicants are expected to continue the child care services with Federal, State and local child care resources after the 17-month demonstration effort is completed.
The Head Start Bureau encourages grantees whose service areas contain public and/or Indian housing developments to apply for a portion of these funds.
