SUBJECT: A Design for Family Support, a Training Guide for the Head Start Learning Community
INFORMATION: A Design for Family Support, one of the Training Guides for the Head Start Learning Community, provides staff with the essential partnership-building skills needed to work effectively with Head Start families. The skills addressed in the guide include applying the principles of family support to daily work; developing creative approaches for providing support to families and assessing individual skill in working effectively with families.
To supplement some of the activities included in this training guide, a videotape is available. Every Head Start grantee will receive one copy of the training guide along with the video. Head Start grantees and delegate agencies who wish to order an additional A Design for Family Support training guide and video should mail their request on program letterhead to:
Head Start Information and Publication Center (HSIPC)
P. 0. Box 26417
Alexandria, VA 22313-0417
A check or money order for $5.00 should be included in your request, made payable to "Trans-Management Systems Corporation."
Non-Head Start agencies can obtain one copy of the training guide through the HSIPC. To learn more about the videos which supplement the activities in the guide, please see the discussion on audiovisual materials in the Resources Section on page 101 of the training guide, A Design for Family Support.
A Design for Family Support is part of a series of training guides being developed by the Head Start Bureau. These guides are an important tool available to programs to provide ongoing training and staff development opportunities which help to promote quality service delivery to children and families.
I hope that this training guide will be helpful to your program.
