Abstract

The Head Start Bureau is dedicated to assuring that its Early Head Start grantees will continue to receive the support necessary to continue providing services to low-income families with infants and toddlers, and pregnant women. This Information Memorandum provided those grantees and delegate agencies with notice of a competition for financial assistance that was open to local non-profit, public and for profit private entities, including existing Early Head Start and Head Start programs, in 98 select service areas of the country.

SUBJECT: Availability of Early Head Start Funds for Select Service Areas

INFORMATION: Attached, for your information, is a copy of a Federal Register Notice announcing a competition for the availability of financial assistance for the Early Head Start program in order to continue operating Early Head Start programs in 98 select service areas of the country. These areas are listed in Appendix A at the end of the Federal Register Notice (see Parts I and II of Appendix A). The Head Start Bureau is interested in assuring that communities currently served by these existing grantees will have an opportunity to continue receiving services to low income families with infants and toddlers and pregnant women through Early Head Start.
