Abstract

It can be difficult to spend time with a child who has challenging behaviors. This fact sheet provides parents and caregivers with seven techniques to help create an environment that promotes appropriate behaviors.

  1. Sing 'em praises!
  2. Describe what's going on
  3. Be a copy cat!
  4. Keep the conversation going
  5. Be clear
  6. Be calm and polite
  7. Be consistent!
