45 CFR 1308.2(b)(c) Parent Participation and Transition of Children into Head Start and from Head Start to Public School
 
Abstract

In an effort to ensure continuity of services, part of section 45 CFR 1308.21 focuses on the transition of children with disabilities into school-age programs. Administrators and staff will find these additional Federal requirements useful in the transition process of children with disabilities and in school notification. Guidance provides more detailed information for disabilities coordinators.

Sec. 1308.21 Parent participation and transition of children into Head Start and from Head Start to public school.

Transition

(b) Grantees must plan to assist parents in the transition of children from Head Start to public school or other placement, beginning early in the program year.

School Notification

(c) Head Start grantees, in cooperation with the child's parents, must notify the school of the child's planned enrollment prior to the date of enrollment.
