Overview of Early Intervention Services
 

The following information from the National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY) describes important aspects of the early intervention process. This information may be useful to parents, teaching staff, and other service providers. Early intervention services are essential to children’s growth and development, especially those diagnosed with a specific condition or challenge during their early developmental years.

Overview of Early Intervention Services

Broadly speaking, early intervention services are specialized health, educational, and therapeutic services designed to meet the needs of infants and toddlers, from birth through age two, who have a developmental delay or disability, and their families. At the discretion of each State, services can also be provided to children who are considered to be at-risk of developing substantial delays if services are not provided. Full text »
