Safety Tips for Sleeping Babies
 

Parents and caregivers must create a safe environment for children while they sleep. The Consumer Product Safety Commission offers tips for sleeping babies in English and Spanish to prevent sleep related injuries. Head Start and Early Head Start health managers, family and community partnership staff, and teachers may use these tips to educate parents and staff on how to protect sleeping babies.

If your baby is under 12 months old, you can help prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), suffocation, and strangulation by following these three tips:

  1. Place your baby to sleep on his or her back.
  2. Remove all soft bedding from the crib.
