A Holistic Approach to Health and Safety
Technical Assistance Paper No. 7

The World Health Organization defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Head Start staff and program managers will learn here how and what systems support a broader perspective of good health practices. This paper also discusses issues related to pregnant women, oral health for infants and toddlers, screening for developmental and behavioral disorders, and rural communities. And it contains appendices with relevant forms, worksheets and inventories.
