Start National Reporting System
Called for in the President's Good Start, Grow Smart
Early Childhood Initiative, the National Reporting System (NRS) is a
program improvement and accountability system developed to ensure
that Head Start programs assess student learning in language, early
literacy, and premathematics skills in the year preceding
kindergarten entry. A rating of student social-emotional
development was added in the fall of 2006.
