The Early Care and Education Program's Associate Degree provides solid foundational knowledge, field experiences, and common skills and strategies that prepare students for multiple roles within the early childhood field. The areas of specialization are Infant/Toddler, Preschool, School-Age, Management and Family Child Care Provider.
Total Credits Required
60 to 64 hours
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Also, a reading prerequisite must be met. Students must take an assessment, then depending on the score it is determined if he or she needs to take the reading course.
The Early Care and Education Department offers onsite classes, distance learning using interactive television, and self-paced study

Computer required. An IBM compatible (or similar Macintosh) computer with at least the following: Windows 2000, Pentium 133 MHz, 64 MG RAM, 28.8 modem, sound card, speaker
Internet access is required. A graphic web browser that is Java, Cookies, and Frames capable (FireFox 2.0, Netscape 7, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.)
E-mail access is required.
Word processing software that has a spell checker (such as Microsoft Word or Word Perfect.)
