Steps to Success Facilitator Guide Unit 1, Module 2: Defining and Supporting Mentor-Coaching (TVI)

The Mentor-Coach relationship is a two-way street that is an intentional, focused partnership that enables both the Mentor-Coach and the protégé to get to know their styles of communication and classroom practice. Clip 1 of the Unit 1 Tutored Video Instruction (TVI) will introduce Mentor-Coaches to the basis of the Mentor-Coach relationship; the dialogue of ideas and learning that takes place, how this relationship helps teachers reflect on their practice, and how to create a risk-free environment in which to learn. The TVI panel discusses how this relationship can change language and literacy outcomes and creates a community of learning for all teachers and Mentor-Coaches.
