Observer Bias

 

Successful, unbiased observation requires strong, honest, trusting relationships between Mentor-Coaches and their protégés. Mentor-Coaches, together with their Steps to Success facilitator, will use Clip 5 of the Unit 2 Tutored Video Instruction (TVI) to define observer bias and discuss how the halo effect and negative bias influence observation. The TVI panels shares strategies they have used to become aware of their own lenses and work to overcome bias.
