Curriculum in Head Start/Individualizing in Head Start (Videotape)

This videotape contains two segments that explain the requirements in the Program Performance Standards and demonstrate their implementation in Head Start programs. Curriculum in Head Start presents the concept that early childhood curriculum relates to the child's whole interaction with the world, and that children learn through active involvement. It emphasizes the fact that the curriculum must cover all areas of development including intellectual, emotional, physical and social development. Individualizing in Head Start focuses on the concept of letting the child make choices and decisions for him/herself. It also emphasizes the importance of teamwork on the part of parents and staff in the growth and development of each child. These videotape segments complement information provided in the Guide for Education Coordinators in Head Start. Local reproduction of this videotape is authorized.
