Abstract

Identifying elements of effective transition is the first step in assisting children to learn to accept change openly and with enthusiasm. Head Start staff, families, and other members of the local early childhood community smooth the path of change. This guide helps classroom staff look at requirements for supporting children and families preparing for and experiencing transition and developing transition practices to facilitate continuity between settings.
