Many mature Head Start programs have creatively overcome barriers to involving fathers in their young children's lives. Studies conclude that children with highly involved fathers, in relation to children with less involved fathers, tend to be more cognitively and socially competent. Father involvement coordinators, parent involvement specialists, and other staff members who work with families will find this guidebook and video useful when planning fatherhood involvement strategies for their programs.
