2012 Immunization Schedules for Children Ages Birth to 6 Years Old
 

The 2012 immunization schedules for children ages birth to 6 years old have been approved by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. The schedules list the age or age range when each vaccine or series of shots is recommended. Head Start programs, pediatricians, pediatric nurse practitioners, and parents may refer to the immunization and the catch-up schedules to help prevent illnesses in young children and adolescents.

This schedule indicates the recommended ages for routine administration of currently licensed vaccines, as of January 1, 2012, for children ages 0 through 6 years. Any dose not administered at the recommended age should be administered at a subsequent visit, when indicated and feasible. Licensed combination vaccines may be used whenever any component of the combination is indicated and other components are not contraindicated and if approved by the Food and Drug Administration for that dose of the series.

Catch-up Immunization Schedules for Children Ages 4 Months to 18 Years Old

This resource provides catch-up schedules and minimum intervals between doses for children and adolescents whose vaccinations have been delayed. A vaccine series does not need to be restarted regardless of the time that has elapsed between doses.
