COVID-19 and the Head Start Community
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has deeply impacted Head Start and Early Head Start programs, enrolled children and families, and their communities. Although we face many challenges, we have also been presented with opportunities. Programs are encouraged to plan and implement summer programming to serve our children who will transition to kindergarten. These services should be provided based on local need. With these new opportunities come questions and a need for accurate, up-to-date information.
This section is regularly updated with guidance and resources from the Office of Head Start (OHS) to help all programs support staff, children, and families during this challenging time. Find official OHS guidance on program operations, fiscal flexibilities, and enrollment. Explore center operations, safety, health, and hygiene recommendations, and links to other federal sites guiding our work.
