Looking Forward to a New Program Year

Katie Hamm: Hi, I'm Katie Hamm. And I'm the acting director of the Office Of Head Start. As a new program year begins for many of you across the country, I wanted to just take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for all that you have done, especially over the last two and a half years as families faced new challenges, as you faced your own personal struggles.

Thank you for stepping up in new ways to make sure that children and families still got Head Start and Early Head Start services. As this new program year begins, I want to especially take a moment to welcome our new Head Start staff. You're about to have an incredible experience serving our nation's youngest learners.

Thank you for answering the call of service. You're now part of a wonderful 57 year experiment in one of our government's most successful programs. I hope that you all have a great year. I want to thank you again for all that you're doing to support children and families. It's been critical to communities and to local economies across the country as we continue to struggle with the impacts of the pandemic. I hope you have a great year.
