Quick Intro to MyPeers & How to Join
Narrator: Welcome to MyPeers. Some of you may be interested in what MyPeers is all about. And others of you are interested in joining. If you go to the Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center, ECLKC, scroll down all the way to the bottom. Under the Quick Links, you will see we have a quick link for MyPeers. That will bring you to this page.
You can see that MyPeers is a virtual learning network, where you can brainstorm, share ideas and resources with early childhood professionals from all across the nation. It is a service offered by the Office of Head Start.
If you scroll further down on this quick link, you can see we've got three sections of frequently asked questions. Each of these is a collapsible menu. Feel free the check these out. And below that you will see three options.
"Welcome Back": That is for people who already have a MyPeers login and can choose this selection in order to log into MyPeers. This center section here is about registering for any of our open orientation sessions. And then, this last section here are for new members who are interested in creating an account.
Click this "Join" button and it will bring you to this very simple online form — registration form for new members only. All we require are your first name, last name, and email address. And within a few business days, you will receive an email from MangoApps with your login information.
If you previously had a MyPeers account and would like it reactivated, please contact info@mypeers.org to have your account reinstated.
Once you log in to MyPeers, you'll see that there are a number of items that are of interest to you. Should you select "Communities" on the left-hand side, you'll see that there are a number of different communities available for you. As of now, 65 different communities. Anything, from Mental Health Consultation, ERSEA, a variety of different play space communities for different states and regions. AIAN language and culture, Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Practices, Coaching the Home Visitor, Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships, Directors, Health, Safety, I Am Moving, I Am Learning — there's really something for everyone.
Once you go into any community, you're able to see what's going on in that community. You will often be first brought to the Newsfeed page where you can post questions, thoughts, and resources that are of interest to you.
To do that, I utilize the blue "Compose" button at the top center of the screen. Here, you can share a formal post, share an informal update, pose a question, send a private message, create an event, do a poll and so on. To find out more about MyPeers, please visit us at ECLKC, scroll to the bottom for the MyPeers quick link. We'd love to see you in our community. Thank you.
