Early Childhood State Advisory Councils

Early Childhood State Advisory Councils (SAC) work to improve the quality, availability, and coordination of programs and services for children ages birth to five. SACs are designated by each state's governor to facilitate the development or enhancement of high-quality systems of early childhood education and care, which are designed to improve school readiness.

The SAC grant was authorized by Public Law 110-134, the Improving Head Start Readiness Act of 2007, and funded through Public Law 111-5, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 for the period between 2010 and 2013.
