Dual Language Learning Institute Webcast: Introduction

The Dual Language Learner Institute seeks to provide the tools to effectively support and engage children as they prepare for school and for life. The Institute explores the links between language development, social-emotional development, cognitive development, and school readiness. These webcasts may be useful to Head Start employees who were unable to attend the Dual Language Learner Institute.

Dual language learners include children who are learning two or more languages at the same time. It also includes children who are learning a second language while continuing to develop their first language. In the following videos, you will be introduced to the developmental areas that contribute to better school readiness by promoting a better understanding of the various cultures and languages being served in the Head Start community.
