The 2017 Leadership Institute will be an in-person institute. Conference content will also be available online through the Office of Head Start Leadership Institute Community on MyPeers. More information is coming soon.
Where will 2017 Leadership Institute be held?
The 2017 Leadership Institute will take place at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, IL.
Where should I stay?
2017 Leadership Institute has room blocks in several hotels, with rooms at the government per diem rate. The room blocks are available from April 4 through April 7. Please visit the 2017 Leadership Institute page of Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC) or the community on MyPeers for additional information.
What will be available through the MyPeers community?
Through the MyPeers community, you will be able to access live-streamed sessions and engage with presenters and colleagues on trending topics. Access and participate in discussions on session content and related resources. Users also will learn how to join other MyPeers communities relevant to their interests and role, and identify supports available from the National Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA) Centers.
How much does registration cost?
Registration is free! There is no cost to participate in the 2017 institute.
How long is 2017 Leadership Institute?
The 2017 Leadership Institute is a two-day event with 60 breakout sessions and two plenaries.
What content will be presented?
The sessions will focus on program leadership's role in understanding and implementing the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) with staff, governing bodies, and families. Session content will include curriculum and school readiness, family engagement, program planning, monitoring, professional development, program management, and networking around key topics related to the HSPPS.
Is there an opportunity for networking?
Yes! Each day there will be a chance to talk about key topics related to the HSPPS. In addition, through our live-stream player, individuals participating virtually will be able to chat with each other, connecting with other early childhood professionals from all over the country.
What type of speakers are presenting at 2017 Leadership Institute?
The presenters for the 2017 Leadership Institute will be representatives from the Office of Head Start National T/TA Centers and federal staff.
Who should attend 2017 Leadership Institute?
The two-day Leadership Institute is designed for executive and program directors and other program leaders. It is open to all grantees and delegate agencies serving children ages birth to 5 and to all program options.
Are Continuing Education Units (CEUs) available?
Yes. We will have CEUs available to participants of the 2017 Leadership Institute at no additional cost.
Will any sessions be recorded so I can watch them later?
Six sessions from 2017 Leadership Institute will be recorded and made available for on-demand viewing a couple of weeks after the live event.
