Curiosity, Questions, and Vocabulary

Terri Harper, a Head Start education manager, describes her observations of children in classrooms where teachers use science investigations to support language and literacy development. Science promotes curiosity, questions, and exploration in both teachers and preschoolers. Use of relevant non-fiction books can promote curiosity and help children improve their vocabularies within the context of science investigations.
