Reporting to the Board of Directors, the executive director (ED) will oversee the CLC by supporting its mission, goals, and objectives and collaborating with staff and the Board of Directors. They manage the two school sites and provide operational leadership, staff management, and continuous improvement of processes, approaches, and systems. The ED maintains a visible presence in the CLC, engages consistently and productively with families, and fosters a culture that is in keeping with the CLC’s values. The ED oversees a $1.5 million budget and directly supervises two site coordinators, who supervise 16 educators and support staff.
Founded in 1976 and located about 20 miles southwest of Boston, The Sharon Cooperative School, Inc. is a non-profit, early childhood organization that serves preschool children (ages 2.9 to 5) and families in two locations: the Sharon Cooperative School and the Cooperative Nature School. Together, these schools form the Cooperative Learning Community (CLC). It has been accredited by NAEYC since 2004 and received reaccreditation for the fourth time in 2019.
- An associate’s degree and five years of experience in childcare leadership, including the management of employees, as well as previous teaching and childcare experience, are required;
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Candidates must be Massachusetts DEEC Director II certified;
- Out-of-state candidates must be eligible for certification at the time of application.
