Purpose Statement: The HS/EHS Floater supports the center staff by being available to assist in a variety of job roles to prevent the disruption of services to children and maintain all Head Start and DHS standards and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide for the care, safety and well being of all children in the group.
- Assist in implementing a curriculum geared for the appropriate age of children from The Creative Curriculum & Assessment System and School Readiness Goals.
- Set up the physical environment to meet the age-appropriate needs of children.
- Demonstrate verbally and by role modeling sound knowledge of good teaching practices and child growth and development.
- Provide children with emotional support, classroom organization and instructional support.
- Participate in staff meeting discussions and ongoing training regarding program, children, and parents.
- Assist in keeping the classroom and playground clean and safe.
- Assist teacher in training volunteers, substitutes, and parents.
- Maintain all Head Start Performance Standards.
- Obtain the required Department of Human Services training hours.
- Preserve the confidentiality and integrity of all program information.
- Attendance is an essential function of your day-to-day responsibility and commitment to the program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor as this job description is in no way intended to include all responsibilities of the position, but rather to provide a general overview of what is expected of the position holder.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability and willingness to obtain a CDA.
- Current Tennessee Driver’s License and vehicle with liability insurance preferred, but not required.
- Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work on time to attend required meetings and other job requirements.
- Ensure physical examination and TB screening/test every three years.
- Experience working with young children.
- Ensure to meet all mandated requirements by the Office of Head Start.
