Duties:
Responsibilities/What You’ll Do:
- Participate in staff meetings, attend conferences, training/workshops, and meet education standards as required and at times outside of non-traditional hours.

- Commit to reflective supervision as a cornerstone of program and staff development.
- As part of the management team, promote quality programming for all enrolled EHS children by setting standards, developing policies and procedures, and clarifying expectations for services in the EHS program.
- Serve as a resource to staff, partnering child care providers, and parents on education and early childhood development (to include curriculum, best practice, ongoing assessment of children’s progress, individualization, record-keeping, professionalism, daily and long-range classroom planning, etc.)
- Facilitate/lead School Readiness Committee meetings no less than three times a program year.
- Facilitate/assist EHS Managers with the Health Services Advisory Committee meetings.
- Plan, prepare, support, and attend Policy Council meetings.
- Communicate and collaborate with, but not limited to: Early Intervention Services and Onslow County Schools.
- Develop and implement systems to monitor and enhance quality of One Place EHS early childhood education services including, but not limited to: Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies Gold, Learning Genie, Child Plus, etc.
- Develop, update, and implement written One Place EHS Center-Based Education policies and procedures, staff responsibilities, and/or expectations.
- Assure that all child care partners are implementing applicable EHS performance standards.
- Develop and maintain accurate recordkeeping systems to document areas including educational results, personnel/supervisory management and performance appraisals, staff qualifications, staff training, ordering, and maintaining materials and equipment, and communication with/among staff.
- Provide consultation to One Place EHS staff, parents, and community in response to identified needs related to meeting EHS program educational goals.
- Be well-informed of current state licensing regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, , Health and Safety guidelines for young children in group care, Head Start Outcomes Framework, Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007, the CDA process, developmentally appropriate practice, best practices in group care of children ages 0-3, and early childhood development.
- Work with the EHS Director and Managers to provide monthly/quarterly reports and on-going data collection, analysis, and aggregation.
- Be responsible for the recruitment, screening, hiring and retention of well-qualified and effective employees to achieve the program goals.
- Support staff development plans of all EHS-CCP teaching staff to include identification of training needs and development of One Place EHS annual training plans for site administrators, teaching staff and One Place EHS staff.
- Plan for and coordinate annual pre-service and in-service training for One Place EHS and EHS-CCP staff.
- Assist in planning for and defining teachers’ roles in the successful transition of children into & out of the program.
- Provide consistent support for site administrators and teachers in developing strong and effective relationships and communication systems with parents and One Place EHS program staff.
- Collaborate with One Place EHS Management and Coordinating teams to provide support for classrooms working with children with special behavioral and educational needs.
- Assure that all Head Start and Early Head Start regulations and Performance Standards regarding educational and other services for children with disabilities are implemented appropriately.
- Collaborate with EHS Managers and those directly supervised to support IFSP meetings and will ensure the presence of parents, teachers, therapists, and others important to the child’s development are in attendance.
- Assure that the IFSP is developed with parental approval and that the therapies and other objectives are implemented in the timeline established by the committee.
- Develop and implement systems to ensure the successful transition of children with IFSPs from Infant/Toddler to appropriate Pre-School Early Intervention programs.
- Provide technical assistance, training, support and assistance to One Place EHS program and partnering staff to ensure that concerns about children’s development or behavior are identified and addressed in a timely and effective manner to include the development of classroom behavior plans, joint home visits, and/or facilitating team meetings with families to develop action plans and clarify roles of all involved.
- Collaborate with EHS Managers to assure that all health records and tracking for children and children with disabilities are accurately maintained and kept current. Records include but are not limited to: Health and medical data per Performance Standards requirements, Daily Health Checks, OCHD Dental Data, Special Care Plans, IFSPs, Nutrition Assessments, and other health data as required.
Qualifications:
Qualifications/What You’ll Need:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field.
- A minimum of three to five years’ experience in work or related field.
- A minimum of three to five years’ supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to think critically and exercise independent judgement and discretion.
- Knowledge of early childhood development, Head Start Systems and the 5 Protective Factors
- Knowledge of the diverse service delivery area to partner with consumers, early care and education providers, internal and external programs
- Capacity to evaluate, coordinate and implement various programs as well as track efforts and report outputs/outcomes.
- Proficiency in technology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to analyze, interpret and report data.
- Experience working with diverse families, agencies, and organizations.
- Energetic, initiative-taking team player with a learning attitude, able to meet deadlines.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities under minimal supervision
