A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A HEAD START TEACHER
As a Head Start Teacher, you come to work each day excited and ready to make a difference in children's lives. Working cooperatively with another teacher, you teach a class of approx. 18 children. You develop weekly lesson plans to ignite the curiosity and growth of the children in our preschool. You track each child's growth through observations, portfolio documentation, developmental checklist, and assessment data.
As a Head Start teacher, you not only provide an educational opportunity to children, but you work with the whole family to help them become more self-sufficient. Each year you conduct two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences.
A Head Start Teacher leads and manages a classroom team, creates lesson plans, and assists children in achieving their goals.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, family and consumer studies, or a related degree with equivalent coursework in early childhood education required.
- Experience teaching preschool age children (two years preferred).
- Computer skills.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Plan, supports, and implements learning experiences that advance the child's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required. Previous Head Start teaching experience is a plus! Are you able to work well independently and as part of a team? Do you have strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills? Are you detail-oriented? Can you guide and mentor your assistant teacher? If so, you may be perfect for this teaching position!
Our Lead Teacher earns a competitive wage of $24.58-28.83/hour.
