The Important Role of Staff in Breastfeeding Education and Support

A successful breastfeeding program begins with you! Some staff members are very comfortable with supporting breastfeeding while others are uncomfortable just talking about breastfeeding. A few staff members may have experience breastfeeding their own children while others have no experience with breastfeeding. But all staff members—experienced or not—play an important role in breastfeeding promotion. You have an opportunity to share the facts about breastfeeding with families, and to help them decide what's best for them and their babies.

What do you think about breastfeeding? More importantly, how do you feel about it? The following resources will help you list your own thoughts about breastfeeding so that you can help families make the best decisions for them.

It is important to remember that families make the best decisions possible for their children with the information they have. Families look to Head Start staff members for accurate information. Do you have the latest? Use this resource guide to learn more!
