St. Patrick’s Day Hummus


Saint Patrick's Day hummus.10-ounce box frozen baby spinach or 10 ounces fresh baby spinach (if using frozen spinach, thaw for 2–3 hours)

15-ounce cans chickpeas (garbanzo beans)

4 cloves garlic

¼ cup olive oil

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

¼ cup tahini (optional)

¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Pita bread (optional)

Vegetables, such as celery and cucumber (optional)


  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender, cover the blender, and blend until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Cut up the vegetables (optional).
  3. Serve the hummus with the pita bread or vegetables.

Makes 10 servings

Safety tip: To prevent injuries, an adult should supervise use of the blender.
