10-ounce box frozen baby spinach or 10 ounces fresh baby spinach (if using frozen spinach, thaw for 2–3 hours)
15-ounce cans chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
4 cloves garlic
¼ cup olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
¼ cup tahini (optional)
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Pita bread (optional)
Vegetables, such as celery and cucumber (optional)
- Put all the ingredients in a blender, cover the blender, and blend until the mixture is smooth.
- Cut up the vegetables (optional).
- Serve the hummus with the pita bread or vegetables.
Makes 10 servings
Safety tip: To prevent injuries, an adult should supervise use of the blender.
